Atlanta Botanical Garden – Storza Woods Glade Pavilion & Restroom

Atlanta, GA

DESIGN FOR A HIGH-VALUE CULTURAL RESOURCE

The Storza Woods’ Glade Pavilion is a part of the first major expansion in four years for Atlanta Botanical Gardens. This project includes the addition of new gardens, paths, water features, pavilion, and restroom to one of the longest remaining mature woodlands in the city. Nestled inconspicuously in a wooded glade, the restroom provides a stopping point in support of visitors to this part of the Garden. An adjunct building to the future Pavilion, the restroom was designed with ample room and counter space for future wedding parties using the Pavilion.  Its walls are constructed of frosted glass, making it entirely translucent, and a luminous lantern after dark.

Located close by, the as-yet unbuilt Glade Pavilion will provide shade and respite to visitors.  It will be built over an innovative reflecting stream already flowing through the space and down a steep hill. Both the restroom and the Pavilion defer attention to the woods, while at the same time remaining in view along the path in the 10-acre site.
