Atlanta, GA
A place-making design for affordable housing, this LEED Gold development lifts its neighborhood by combining supportive elements such as sustainability and safety with innovative programming to address the root causes of economic and social inequity.
The result of a complex public / private partnership, this village-scaled development consists of two-story townhomes and one-story flats, varied over four sites from free-standing single-family homes to 14-unit buildings. Taking cues from the character and scale of the historic Edgewood neighborhood, large front porches and stoops that can be personalized connect directly to the sidewalk. Exterior façades are differentiated via roof lines, window configurations, brick & siding patterns, and uniquely colored front doors.
The native-landscaped sidewalk environment encourages play and interaction between neighbors, fostering a safer community. Interiors feature open floor plans and amenities include fitness, club, and meeting rooms; covered picnic areas; playgrounds; and garden spaces.
